Fortune Minerals Advances NICO Project with Metallurgical Tests

Fortune Minerals Limited (TSX: FT) (OTCQB: FTMDF) has announced the successful arrival of ore samples from the NICO cobalt-gold-bismuth-copper deposit to SGS Canada for additional metallurgical testing. The NICO Project, aiming to bolster North American Critical Mineral supplies, underwent a series of tests to validate recent optimizations.

NICO Project Enhancements

Fortune Minerals completed the first phase of its metallurgical program, preparing 15 metric tonnes of ore for testing. This process involved quality inspection, crushing, grinding, and flotation to produce valuable concentrates. Phase three focuses on hydrometallurgical processing to validate process optimizations, including efficient waste management strategies at the Alberta Refinery.

Strategic Developments and Support

Fortune secured an extension to acquire the industrial site for the Alberta Refinery, further supported by financial contributions from the Government of Canada and Alberta Innovates. This refinery is pivotal for processing critical minerals needed for emerging technologies and the green economy.

Impact on the Green Economy

The NICO Project is key to providing a sustainable supply of cobalt, bismuth, and copper, essential for lithium-ion batteries, electronics, and the automotive industry. Notably, the project reduces reliance on geopolitically unstable regions for these materials.
