Kachi Lithium Resource Soars by 250%: Lake Resources Unveils Expansion

Lake Resources (LK1.DU) has announced a significant expansion of the Kachi lithium resource, with a 250% increase in measured and indicated resources to 7.3 million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE). This substantial growth, defined to a depth of 600 metres across 143.8 sq.km, marks a major milestone ahead of the definitive feasibility study.

Impressive Growth in Kachi’s Lithium Resources

The latest figures reveal a total resource estimate exceeding 10.6 million tonnes of LCE, showcasing more than a twofold increase from the initial 4.4 million tonnes. The Australian miner credits an extensive hydrogeological characterization program for the improved understanding of the Carachi Pampa basin’s geology and hydrogeology, leading to more effective extraction strategies.

Advancements in Hydrogeology and Geochemistry

Michael Gabora, the director of geology and hydrogeology, emphasized the company’s commitment to responsible lithium development with minimal water consumption and hydrologic impact. The recent drilling efforts have not only expanded the resource depth but also enhanced the quality of lithium concentration and brine chemistry.

Future Prospects and Technological Partnerships

With the updated resource estimate, Lake Resources sets the stage for the maiden reserve estimate and the Phase 1 definitive feasibility study. The Kachi project’s potential for high-purity lithium carbonate production positions it among the top global brine resources. The strategic partnership with Lilac Solutions promises to bolster technological and financial support for the project’s advancement.
