Adionics Opens Lithium Demonstration Plant in Argentina

Adionics (ADION) has launched a lithium demonstration plant in Güemes, Argentina. This plant aims to test various brines from Argentina, Bolivia, and Chile using the company’s proprietary direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology. The DLE technology minimizes water usage and environmental impact.

The company’s CEO, Gabriel Toffani, stated that the plant will help accelerate development and gather crucial information for future projects, contributing to local employment and the economy.

In February, Adionics successfully completed 1,500 hours of lithium extraction tests from brine at a pilot plant in Chile on SQM’s premises. Additionally, in September, the company announced a significant advancement in lithium recycling from battery black mass, achieving recovery rates of up to 98%.

Focus on Direct Lithium Extraction

Adionics’ DLE technology enhances efficiency and sustainability by minimizing water use and reducing environmental impact. This marks their third demonstration plant globally, reflecting the firm’s commitment to sustainable lithium extraction.

Impact on the Lithium Market

With fluctuations in lithium prices, Adionics’ advanced extraction and recycling methods could stabilize supply and impact the electric vehicle supply chain positively. The firm’s strategic focus on both extraction and recycling positions it to influence global supply dynamics effectively.
