Bolivian National Strategic Public Company for Lithium Deposits (YLB) has selected companies from China, Italy, France, and Australia for lithium exploitation projects. The chosen companies, CBC, Protecno, Eramet, and Eau Lithium, were evaluated based on technological maturity and other critical factors.

YLB recently announced the results of its second international call for lithium reserve development, initiated in January. Selected companies showed advanced technology and strong financial proposals, securing their place for further negotiations.

Technologies Proposed by Global Companies

CBC focuses on lithium extraction via the adsorption method from residual brine. Protecno aims to enhance wastewater treatment for existing plants and community water services. Meanwhile, Eramet and Eau Lithium propose Direct Extraction of Lithium (DEL) technology from brine.

The initiatives reflect Bolivia’s commitment to advancing lithium industrialization. DEL technology promises higher recovery rates, aiming to maximize resource utilization compared to traditional evaporation methods.
