Sigma Lithium Receives Major Loan
Sigma Lithium Corporation (SGML) has announced that it has received a binding commitment for a BRL 487 million loan from BNDES. This 16-year loan will fund the construction of their Second Greentech Carbon Neutral Plant in Brazil.
Significance of the Loan
The funding covers almost 99% of the plant’s construction budget. This financial boost will double the production capacity of Quintuple Zero Green Lithium to approximately 520,000 tonnes annually.
Innovative Industrial Advancements
The second plant aims to enhance industrial efficiency by processing mineral spodumene ore into a high-purity concentrate. This aligns with the company’s commitment to eco-friendly and sustainable production practices.
BNDES Strategic Contribution
This loan is part of BNDES’ broader strategy to develop a competitive industrial supply chain in Brazil. By supporting Sigma Lithium, BNDES fosters green and inclusive industrial growth.
CEO’s Remarks on the Development
Ana Cabral, CEO, expressed gratitude for the loan, highlighting it as a reward for Sigma’s consistent leadership in sustainable lithium production. The project, located at Vale do Jequitinhonha, will strengthen the industrial base and have a significant socio-economic impact.
