The facility, located in Tempe, spans 20,451 square feet, including a 3,982-square-foot research laboratory and a 16,469-square-foot processing area for lithium chemicals. This center is expected to create over 20 highly-skilled jobs and support the Big Sandy Project in Arizona.
Lithium Extraction and Processing
The center functions as a technology incubator focusing on lithium extraction from both the Prairie Project in Saskatchewan and the Big Sandy Project in Arizona. It is equipped to perform all processing steps for battery-grade lithium carbonate. Paul Lloyd, Managing Director of Arizona Lithium, highlighted the importance of the facility in optimizing lithium processing technologies.
Leadership and Economic Impact
Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority, emphasized that Arizona Lithium strengthens the state’s position in clean energy technologies. Chris Camacho, President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, stated that the company’s research and processing capabilities will elevate Arizona’s battery industry ecosystem.
