Century Lithium Produces High-Grade Lithium Carbonate Onsite

Century Lithium Produces Lithium Carbonate

Century Lithium Corp. (TSXV: LCE) (OTCQX: CYDVF) (Frankfurt: C1Z) has announced the successful addition of a lithium carbonate stage at its Lithium Extraction Facility (Pilot Plant) in Amargosa Valley, Nevada. This facility is part of the company’s 100%-owned Angel Island Mine project.

During initial startup, the company’s team treated 200 liters of concentrated lithium solution, producing 20 kg of high-grade lithium carbonate onsite. This development aligns with recommendations from the company’s recently completed Feasibility Study.

President and CEO Bill Willoughby commented, “Producing lithium carbonate onsite is a significant step forward. Despite the recent drop in lithium prices, domestic production remains crucial for the security of supply in the U.S. Unlocking Nevada’s claystone lithium deposits to produce battery-quality lithium onsite eliminates the need for downstream processing.”

Pilot Plant Advancements

Century Lithium continues to focus on its patent-pending process for chloride leaching combined with Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE). The recent addition of the lithium carbonate stage helps demonstrate the capability to produce battery-quality lithium carbonate while minimizing recycle streams from the DLE stage.

With assistance from Hargrove Engineers and Constructors, Century’s team configured equipment to process 40-liter batches of concentrated lithium solution through precipitation, washing, and drying steps. Final assays on the lithium carbonate are pending.
