Lithium Chile Announces US$3.85 Billion NPV from Arizaro Project PFS

Lithium Chile Inc. (LITH, LTMCF) has announced the successful completion of the pre-feasibility study (PFS) for its Arizaro Project in Salta, Argentina. The study reports a pre-tax NPV of US$3,853,000,000 and an IRR of 42.1%, underscoring the project’s strong economic viability and sustainability.

Lithium Chile Arizaro Project

Project Overview

The Arizaro Project is set in the Salar de Arizaro, Salta, Argentina. With a life-of-mine duration of 20 years, the project aims to produce 25,000 tonnes of battery-grade lithium carbonate per year. A measured mineral resource of 261,000 tonnes LCE and an indicated resource of 2,237,000 tonnes LCE anchor its potential.

Economic Highlights

The PFS reveals a pre-tax NPV of US$3,853 million and an after-tax NPV of US$2,829 million, with a pre-tax IRR of 42.1% and an after-tax IRR of 36.3%. Initial capital costs are estimated at US$1,055 million, with operating costs of US$5,457/t LCE, promising rapid capital payback within 2.7 years.

Optimizations and Incentives

The PFS benefits from the favorable market conditions and optimizations in the project design, incorporating insights from 2023 pilot plant trials. Additionally, Argentina’s RIGI program offers tax incentives, enhancing profitability.

Resource Upgrades and Reserves

Lithium Chile has upgraded its mineral resources and reported a new probable reserve of 490,000 tonnes LCE. The company aims for a 20-year mine life with an annual production of 25,000 tonnes of LCE.

Processing Efficiency

Advanced DLE technology ensures efficient lithium extraction from brine, reducing water usage by 23%. Low boron levels in the brine streamline the lithium carbonate purification process.

Commitment to Sustainability

Lithium Chile is committed to environmental and social stewardship, submitting its EIA and baseline study in December 2023. The company invests in community-focused initiatives, such as the “Tolar Grande Sustentable” project.

Project Team and Technical Reports

The PFS was prepared by independent engineering firms Ausenco and Montgomery & Associates. Lithium Chile’s team includes experienced professionals dedicated to advancing the Arizaro Project.
