Targa Begins Exploration at Opinaca Gold Project

Targa Exploration Corp. (CSE: TEX | FRA: V6Y | OTCQB: TRGEF) has announced the start of its fully-funded 2024 exploration program at the Opinaca Gold and Lithium project located in Quebec’s James Bay region.

Opinaca Gold Project Highlights

  • Till sampling crew mobilized and starting work this week
  • Plan to collect 3,000 till samples up-ice from gold and lithium anomalies
  • Geology team arriving within five days for boulder and outcrop prospecting
  • One-phase data collection to fast-track results
  • Fieldwork completion by July 7th with lab results expected in August

Till Sampling Details

The program consolidates two phases into one, aiming to gather about 1,650 regional samples and 1,350 in-fill till samples. This efficient approach will use the existing $1.35M budget to offer greater coverage and data density over the 85,000ha project area. A portable X-ray fluorescence machine at the camp will speed up results by analyzing samples for real-time feedback.

Heavy Mineral Concentrate (HMC) Samples

The program will include 40 HMC samples in zones with gold and lithium anomalies. These 10kg samples will undergo lab testing to isolate gold grains, helping to determine their source.

Boulder and Outcrop Prospecting

A four-person team will start fieldwork on June 15th to prospect and map up-ice from the anomalies. The team aims to find mineralized boulders or outcrops, potentially identifying future drill targets.

Fieldwork is slated for completion by July 7th, with lab results anticipated in mid-August.
