Giyani Metals Corp. (TSXV:EMM) has finalized its US$26 million funding package, including a crucial US$10 million investment from ARCH Sustainable Resources Fund LP, to bring the K.Hill battery-grade manganese project to its Final Investment Decision (FID).
Securing Strategic Funding
Giyani secured the remaining US$10 million funding from the ESG-focused private equity fund, ARCH, effectively fulfilling a primary condition for the US$16 million convertible loan facility from the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa Limited (IDC). This total funding will enable the completion of the Optimized Feasibility Study for K.Hill and establish the demonstration plant to produce High-Purity Manganese Sulfate Monohydrate (HPMSM), a key component for battery-grade manganese.
Highlights of the ARCH Investment
The investment will consist of an ARCH Offering and an ARCH Royalty. ARCH will gain approximately 19.99% of Giyani’s issued shares post-completion of their offering. Danny Keating, CEO of Giyani, expresses enthusiasm about ARCH joining as a shareholder and strategic partner. Amanda van Dyke, Managing Director at ARCH, cites the global battery market’s growth and Giyani’s essential role in delivering low carbon battery materials.
Project Advancement and ESG Efforts
The company will launch the Johannesburg Demo Plant to produce HPMSM and refine operation costs, anticipating product qualification and contract discussions in mid-2024. Giyani continues its dedication to ESG commitments, having obtained the Environmental Authorization for K.Hill and is advancing discussions with multiple Tier-1 offtakers.
Giyani Metals Corp. Overview
Giyani’s mission to become a sustainable, low-carbon producer of battery materials is underscored by its innovative hydrometallurgical process to extract HPMSM from its manganese oxide deposits in Botswana. The company is focused on the EV industry, with K.Hill, Otse, and Lobatse as primary assets.
