Mineral Resources (MinRes MALRY) has announced the strategic acquisition of the Bald Hill lithium mine, bolstering its position in the global lithium market.
Located in Western Australia’s Goldfields, 50km southeast of Kambalda, Bald Hill boasts an impressive annual production capacity of approximately 150,000 tonnes of 5.5% spodumene concentrate. This acquisition complements MinRes’s existing operations, which include the 50% owned Mt Marion and Wodgina lithium mines, making it the sole company globally to manage three hard-rock lithium mines with dedicated spodumene processing facilities.
The integration of Bald Hill, now wholly owned by MinRes, has also led to the seamless transition of around 270 employees and contractors to the company. Chris Ellison, Managing Director of MinRes, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The addition of Bald Hill to our lithium portfolio not only strengthens our resource base but also consolidates our workforce, enhancing our operational capabilities in the world’s prime lithium region.”
With this expansion, MinRes continues to solidify its leadership in the lithium sector, providing a robust foundation for future growth and innovation in the industry.
