Arizona Lithium (AZLAF) has commenced pad construction for its pioneering direct lithium extraction facility at the Prairie project in Saskatchewan, Canada. With a significant resource of 5.7Mt lithium carbonate equivalent, the project is swiftly moving from pilot to commercial operations.
The recent arrival of the DLE pilot plant marks a milestone, with commissioning efforts underway to expedite the evaluation of third-party DLE technology. Following two successful offsite testing phases, the company is now preparing for the drilling of production and disposal wells slated for the first half of 2024.

Strategic Advancements in Lithium Extraction

Arizona Lithium’s strategy involves targeting a production rate of approximately 2,000tpa lithium carbonate equivalent. The licensing process for the initial wells is in progress, and the upcoming pre-feasibility study (PFS) will shed light on the project’s economics and technical aspects.
The PFS, along with data from the pilot plant, will inform the licensing application for the first commercial DLE facility. Paul Lloyd, the managing director, emphasizes the advantages of Saskatchewan’s regulatory framework and infrastructure, which support the project’s rapid advancement.

Commitment to Timely Production

With a focus on collaboration with the Saskatchewan government, Arizona Lithium is on track to initiate production by 2025, positioning the project as a frontrunner in North America’s lithium market.
