Arizona Lithium (ASX:AZL) is making strides in the lithium industry. The company’s Prairie preliminary feasibility study (PFS) is set to complete in December.
Arizona Lithium’s research center has confirmed the successful use of direct lithium extraction (DLE) and cross flow reverse osmosis (CFRO) techniques on Prairie’s brine. This process yields >99% purity battery-grade carbonate.
The Prairie lithium brine project in Saskatchewan, Canada, is nearing its goal of producing 10,000 litres of battery-grade lithium concentrate. The company’s proprietary DLE tech, which selectively removes lithium from brine, is being tested globally.
Arizona Lithium’s Projects
Arizona Lithium is applying its DLE tech to the Big Sandy and Prairie projects. The latter recently saw a 40% increase in endowment to 5.7Mt lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE). This makes Prairie the highest grade resource in Canada.
The company believes the successful use of DLE and CFRO processes for battery-grade lithium is a significant step towards commercial production. It offers lower capex and opex than conventional technologies.
Future Plans
Arizona Lithium plans to bring Prairie into production at its nearby pilot plant, set to be commissioned next month. The company is excited about the successful resource upgrade and the production of lithium carbonate at their LRC in Arizona.
The tech team is preparing to produce high-grade lithium carbonate for strategic investors and off-take partners. The upcoming DLE pilot plant operation in November will move Arizona Lithium closer to its first commercial facility and lithium production.
