CleanTech Lithium Trials Innovative iFO Technology at Pilot Plant

CleanTech Lithium PLC (AIM:CTL, OTCQX:CTLHF) has commenced testing industrial forward osmosis (iFO) technology in its downstream conversion process at a DLE pilot plant in Chile.

Focus on Sustainable Lithium Projects

CleanTech, an exploration and development company, is dedicated to sustainable lithium projects. The company is evaluating iFO technology as an alternative to conventional thermal evaporators for eluate concentration.

Benefits of iFO Technology

iFO technology reportedly reduces energy consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 60% compared to standard methods and shows superior efficiency when using solar thermal power.

Test Collaboration with Canadian and US Firms

Forward Water Technology from Canada has supplied a demonstration iFO unit, which is being shipped to Conductive Energy in Chicago for further testing. This test will involve converting eluate from CleanTech’s pilot plant in Copiapó, Chile.

Potential for Significant Impact

CleanTech Lithium is evaluating the use of iFO and traditional evaporators for its pre-feasibility study of Laguna Verde. The technology promises reduced energy consumption and costs. Steve Kesler, the executive chairman, highlighted the extensive work in optimizing the DLE process for the project.

The iFO unit is expected to reach Conductive Energy’s facility in two weeks, aiming to convert significant volumes of eluate into battery-grade lithium carbonate.
