Ewoyaa Lithium Project Gains Environmental Permit from Ghana EPA

Piedmont Lithium (PLL; ASX: PLL), a major North American lithium products supplier, has announced that Ghana’s Environmental Protection Agency has granted an EPA Permit for the Ewoyaa Lithium Project in Ghana. This project is being developed in collaboration with Atlantic Lithium Limited (AIM: ALL, ASX: A11).

Ewoyaa Lithium Project Partnership

The Ewoyaa Lithium Project represents a significant step forward for Piedmont Lithium as they work closely with Atlantic Lithium. In August 2023, the company took steps to acquire a 22.5% interest in Ewoyaa, pending governmental approvals, aiming toward a 50% stake in Atlantic Lithium’s Ghanaian lithium portfolio.

Significance of the EPA Permit

Patrick Brindle, COO of Piedmont Lithium, described the granting of the EPA Permit as a crucial milestone in Ewoyaa’s development. This progress reflects the partnership’s dedication to responsible project development. Brindle anticipates the mining lease ratification and subsequent construction, contingent on remaining approvals and market conditions.

Piedmont Lithium’s Role in Clean Energy Transition

Piedmont Lithium is advancing a multi-asset lithium business model, focusing on supporting North America’s transition to a clean energy economy. Their projects extend across the United States and include collaborations in Quebec and Ghana, aiming to impact the electrification of transportation and energy storage.
