Anson Resources Ltd (ASX:ASN, OTCQB:ANSNF) has announced a significant milestone at its Green River Lithium project. The company has received final approval from the State of Utah, Department of Natural Resources, Division of Water Rights, to use water (brine) for lithium extraction. This approval marks a key step forward for the project.
The application, initially filed in July 2023 through Anson’s subsidiary Blackstone Minerals NV LLC, was approved following a reconsideration process completed this month. It permits the utilization of 19 cubic feet per second of brine in a direct lithium extraction (DLE) process, with all extracted brine being returned to its original geological formation. This makes the process non-consumptive and environmentally sustainable.
Anson Resources Achieves Environmental Approval
The Utah Division of Water Quality also approved Anson’s underground injection control (UIC) technical report for the “UIC Class 5 Spent Brine Return” well. The extraction wells are strategically planned on private land acquired by Anson in 2023, situated near the proposed lithium extraction plant.
CEO Bruce Richardson emphasized the company’s commitment to eco-friendly practices, highlighting how the DLE process mitigates environmental impact compared to traditional methods. The project is advancing swiftly, with the recent completion of the Bosydaba #1 well and the commissioning of the Sample Demonstration Plan.
Environmental and Sustainable Extraction
Anson’s dedication to minimizing environmental impact is evident in their approach. The company ensures all processes align with sustainability goals, emphasizing innovative methods like DLE to reduce ecological footprints.
