Atlantic Lithium (A11) has received an environmental permit from Ghana’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its flagship Ewoyaa Lithium Project. The permit authorizes mining activities in the Central Region. This marks a significant step towards establishing Ghana’s first lithium operation.
The Australian company’s Mine and Process Environment Impact Statement (EIS) indicated EPA approval as crucial. Feedback from the EPA was incorporated into the final EIS submitted in May 2024. Public hearings in Ewoyaa and Krofu showed community support for the project.
Atlantic Lithium’s Commitment to Sustainability
Neil Herbert, Executive Chairman of Atlantic Lithium, emphasized the importance of responsible land stewardship. He expressed gratitude for the EPA’s assistance, aligning the project with local interests.
Ewoyaa’s Strategic Partnerships
Half of Ewoyaa’s lithium output will be processed at a US-based Piedmont Lithium refinery. This partnership helps fund mine construction. Atlantic aims to produce 3.6 million tonnes of spodumene concentrate over 12 years, positioning Ewoyaa among the world’s top lithium projects.
