Green Technology Metals Ltd (ASX:GT1, OTC:GTMLF) has announced significant exploration success, establishing a maiden exploration target at its Junior Lithium Project in Ontario, Canada. The Junior Project, positioned 20 kilometers from the Seymour Project, exhibits strong lithium grades and numerous pegmatite formations, potentially indicating a larger intrusive system.
Maiden Exploration Target for Junior Lithium Project
The company’s fieldwork and historical data from Despard, Swole, and Tape prospects support a maiden exploration target for the Junior Project. The target estimates between 4 million and 9 million tonnes of lithium mineralisation, with grades ranging from 1.0% to 1.5% lithium oxide.
GT1 emphasizes the Junior Project’s potential to enhance the Eastern Hub resource base, essential for long-term feed to the Seymour Project’s concentrator.
Exploration Success and New Discoveries
Recent field exploration at Junior identified significant extensions to spodumene mineralisation. Notably, a new mineralised zone was discovered at the Despard prospect, where rock chip samples revealed lithium oxide levels up to 5.06%. The zone stretches 200 metres along the southwest strike of known pegmatites.
GT1 stated that these findings underscore the region’s underexplored nature and confirm their exploration strategy’s effectiveness. The company’s focus is now on further discoveries and new targets leading into a maiden drill program at Junior.
Drilling Program at Despard Area
Preparations for a maiden drill program at Despard have advanced, awaiting Heritage Resources Impact Assessment completion. With a received drilling permit, a two-phase, 6,900-metre diamond drilling campaign will launch after final approvals from Indigenous partners. Phase 1 includes 3,450 metres, with Phase 2 contingent on Phase 1’s outcomes.
