Lithium: Galan Announces Agreement with Chemphys
Galan Lithium Limited (GLN) has announced a significant milestone. The Australian company shared that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chengdu Chemphys Chemical Industry Co. This agreement focuses on an offtake prepayment for lithium products from the Hombre Muerto West project in Catamarca, Argentina.
With the definitive agreements, Galan will provide Chemphys with 23,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent during Phase 1’s first five years. In exchange, Chemphys is supplying a prepayment credit line of US$40 million to aid in the project’s initial phase.
Strategic Partnership for Future Production
Galan’s Managing Director, JP Vargas de la Vega, expressed satisfaction with the deal, emphasizing the quality of the lithium chloride samples produced at their pilot plant. These high-purity samples have attracted attention from lithium converters, culminating in this collaboration with Chemphys. On their part, Chemphys, a leader in lithium processing in China, views Galan as a strong partner.
Chemphys Director, Alison Dai, remarked on the importance of quality and supply chain visibility, highlighting their commitment to maintaining a robust relationship with Galan.
