Century Lithium Renames Project to Angel Island Mine

Century Lithium Corp. (TSXV: LCE) (OTCQX: CYDVF) (Frankfurt: C1Z) announces it has changed the name of its 100%-owned Clayton Valley Lithium Project in Nevada, USA to the Angel Island Mine. In April 2024, the company announced a positive feasibility study for the project. This makes it one of the few advanced lithium projects being developed in the United States. Regulators encouraged the name change for clarity in the permitting process. The Angel Island name distinguishes it from other projects in the area by using a topographical feature from the site.

About Angel Island

Angel Island is named for the ridge of older metavolcanic and clastic rocks bordering the west side of Century’s lithium clay deposit. The name dates to the 1800s, named after islands in San Francisco Bay. Angel Island, the largest of the three landforms, rises 400 meters above the valley floor. It separates Century’s lithium clay deposit from Albemarle Corp.’s lithium brine operation, thanks to uplift along a major northeast-trending fault. Although not related to the formation of Century’s deposit, the uplift brought the clay deposits to the surface, making them accessible for mining. The ridge’s harder rocks likely protected the deposit from erosion.
