Comstock Metals Secures Facility for Solar Panel Recycling Expansion

Comstock Inc. (NYSE: LODE) announced that its subsidiary, Comstock Metals, has secured a long-term lease on a 100,000 square foot facility. This facility, located at 600 Lake Avenue, Silver Springs, Nevada, will process up to 100,000 tons of end-of-life solar panels annually.

Comstock Metals received unanimous approval for a conditional use permit from the Lyon County Board of County Commissioners. This approval fast-tracked the deployment of the first industry-scale solar panel recycling operation in the region.

Comstock Metals is advancing sustainable practices and leading technologies in the solar recycling industry. The new facility’s storage capacity allows for efficient management of solar panels, achieving a 100% closed-loop, zero-landfill solution.

Strategic Expansion of Solar Panel Recycling Operations

Dr. Fortunato Villamagna, President of Comstock Metals, stated, “Our demonstration facility has moved to two operating shifts, with a third shift planned for the third quarter. We are progressing the full design and permitting of the industry-scale facility, having secured the site and county permit. We have also begun pre-engineering and state permit drafting.”

Capacity and Location Advantages

The Silver Springs facility is strategically situated to serve the expanding solar industry in the Western U.S. With significant storage and processing capabilities, Comstock Metals is set to lead in solar panel recycling, reducing electronic waste and recovering valuable materials.

Corrado De Gasperis, Executive Chairman and CEO of Comstock Inc., added, “Once we demonstrated our ability to recycle and reuse 100% of materials, we accelerated permitting for expansion. The team is fully engaged with large-scale customers for high-volume commitments, which we can now accommodate at the industry-scale facility.”
