Comstock Inc. (NYSE: LODE) has announced the issuance of a new Class II Air Quality Operating Permit by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection for its Solar Panel Recycling Facility, marking a significant step forward in the company’s expansion of clean energy initiatives.
Comstock Advances Solar Recycling with New Air Quality Permit
With a sharp increase in the decommissioning of end-of-life solar panels in the U.S. Southwest, Comstock is responding with a state-of-the-art facility tailored for the recycling of photovoltaic materials. The facility will employ innovative technologies for the extraction and recycling of metal concentrates from electronic waste.
Comstock has secured the necessary Class II Air Quality Operating Permit, along with county permission, and anticipates receiving the final Nevada Solid Waste Material Recovery Facility Permit. This will facilitate equipment installation and operations commencement.
Comstock’s Commitment to a Sustainable Future
Dr. Fortunato Villamagna, President of Comstock Metals, emphasized the company’s dedication to environmentally responsible practices. He highlighted Comstock Metals’ role in mitigating the environmental impact of discarded photovoltaic materials and extracting valuable metals for reuse.
By early 2024, Comstock aims to complete the commissioning of its recycling operations and continue to expand its revenue-generating commitments. Plans for an ‘industry-scale’ production facility are also underway.
Corrado De Gasperis, Comstock’s Executive Chairman and CEO, expressed gratitude towards the State of Nevada for its role in expediting the permitting process, which will further propel the company towards achieving its scaling goals for its recycling technology.
